Pierre Robin syndrome is characterized by hypoplasia of the mandibula and glossoptosis. It is also called primary micrognathia or Robin sequence. Frequently it can be associated with cleft palate. The prognosis is good when the neonate survives the respiratory obstruction that may occur after birth.
