Case report

Following images show a case of fetal alcohol syndrome seen in a fetus of a 42-year-old alcohol abuser woman (G9P8). Her first scan was done at 20 weeks of her gestation and revealed intrauterine growth restriction, ventricular septal defect of the heart, hyperechoic kidneys, and long round philtrum of the fetus. Later scans showed similar findings.

The newborn was delivered at 36 weeks and diagnosis of fetal alcohol syndrome was confirmed.
